ID Quantique supports the advancement of ORCA Computing’s latest quantum-AI computing system
Geneva, October 30, 2024
ID Quantique (IDQ) is proud to announce it is partnering with ORCA Computing, a leader in quantum computing, to incorporate IDQ’s breakthrough single-photon detection technology in ORCA’s newest PT-2 photonic quantum computing system.
The PT-2 will integrate IDQ’s ID281 Pro detection system, which is designed as an industrial grade, rack-mounted platform; integrating IDQ’s latest superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors (SNSPD) with photon-number resolving capabilities. The combination provides the PT-2 with quantum-enhanced machine learning capabilities that can be integrated into existing generative AI models, providing the nearest path to industrial scale quantum AI, aimed at solving challenges that were previously beyond reach.
This partnership marks a significant milestone for both companies, who are committed to bringing unprecedented value for computing and communication.
SNSPDs represent the very best in single-photon detection. Today they play a crucial role in enabling the potential of photonic quantum processors, quantum communication systems and quantum science. One key innovation brought forward by IDQ for the PT-2 is the integration of its latest generation of high-efficiency photon-number-resolving detectors, which contribute to the enhancement of the capabilities and speed of ORCA’s new quantum processing unit. The second key innovation brought in is the ID281 Pro, IDQ’s rack-mounted SNSPD platform. The ID281 Pro is a leap forward in simplifying the integration of SNSPDs into quantum photonic systems while retaining the outstanding performance of the ID281 SNSPD line of detectors.
Across research fields and industries, many organizations are leveraging IDQ’s detection technology to address fundamental challenges in security, hard computational problems, simulation of physical systems and development of enabling quantum photonic devices such as single-photon sources. The PT-2 is a prime instance of this. Crucially, the PT-2 and the ID281 Pro are both engineered for integration into existing high-performance computing and data center environments without requiring complex infrastructure or a physical presence by the user. This significantly improves the simplicity of operation, a feature that is of paramount importance for large-scale deployment.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Orca Computing to push the boundaries of quantum computing. This strategic alliance demonstrates our commitment to providing cutting-edge technological solutions that meet the growing needs of the market.”
