ID Quantique has been pioneering commercial applications of Quantum technologies since the company was founded in Geneva in 2001. Today the company employs more than 100 employees around the world and has kept its pioneering spirit of its early days.
Before we look ahead, let’s take a look back at the journey and some of our biggest moments.
ID Quantique founders, Professor Nicolas Gisin and CEO Gregoire Ribordy, reflect on 20 Years of Quantum Innovation. From how they started the company to their ongoing commitment to keeping the pioneering spirit alive for the next 20 years and beyond!
We’ve done a lot in 20 years, from being considered “crazy” in 2001, to global leaders in 2021.
Throughout the years, ID Quantique has been leading the advancement of quantum science, empowering quantum physicists and quantum photonics researchers to take their experiments to the next level.
Grégoire Ribordy
CEO and co-founder of ID Quantique
“Back in 2001, we had to be innovative and we strongly believed the future would be quantum. Seeing how quantum technologies have imposed themselves in today’s society is an exciting confirmation of our 20-year-old vision. It is a privilege to be helping to build the safe and secure future that we all deserve.”
Axel Foery
EVP Strategic Initiatives, ID Quantique
“We believe the Quantum Decade will be a leap forward for the operational use of quantum technologies, with even greater impact than the Internet in the ‘90s. 2021 is the tipping point, where we will see Quantum technology improving cloud security massively. It’s an exciting time for everyone at IDQ and a cause for great celebration in our 20th anniversary year.”
Marc Niklès
CMO, ID Quantique
“Over 20 years of pioneering single-photon detection, we’ve helped academic research teams develop new ideas and concepts to solve complex scientific problems. Today, we continue to challenge optical sensing performance by advancing the frontiers of single-photon science and applications. In the next decade, I can see a broader adoption of photon-counting systems in industrial applications such as life sciences, defence and automotive.
We would love to hear where you, our customers and partners, think Quantum technologies will take us in the next 20 years.
Please send us a message with your thoughts on the future of Quantum.
