ID Quantique acquires its former EU based partner Nutshell Quantum-Safe

To respond to the strong demand for the development and operation of quantum networks in Europe, ID Quantique (IDQ) has completed the acquisition of Nutshell Quantum-Safe located in Austria. The entity will continue to serve as ID Quantique’s service center and customer support partner for the European Union market.

Since its creation in 2001, ID Quantique has developed and industrialized advanced quantum-safe encryption and communication solutions to ensure long-term protection of data in transit and public safety. Everyday, IDQ helps enterprises on their migration to a quantum-safe stance and has a track record of successful deployments of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) networks globally. Using QKD now provides immediate protection to data in the face of today’s brute force attacks, ensure that data with a long shelf life is protected against future attacks and safeguard high-value data in a post-quantum computing world.

Headquartered in Switzerland, ID Quantique has a long tradition of partnerships with European universities, research institutes and enterprise actors and is committed to support Europe’s ambitions to stay at the forefront of quantum technologies, to retain quantum talents and to develop a quantum workforce. IDQ has recently been chosen by several European customers to deploy its QKD solutions both in the public and private sector.

In this context, Nutshell Quantum-Safe, based in Vienna, Austria, provides installation, training and customer support services to European end-users of IDQ QKD solutions, ensuring seamless integration in new or existing telecommunication infrastructures as well as meeting customer service level agreement expectations.
